Allystra lay sprawled in the sand, the warm bodies of her firelizards scattered nearby as all four relaxed in the warm rain that fell often in this southern jungle. Her queen, Kiraia warbled softly as she heard someone approaching through her sleepy daze. Whoever it was, they were clearly not a threat. She didn't waste time wondering if it was one of the other finders or a newcomer. There weren't many here yet, though she'd heard that word was spreading like wildfire - or Thread through an unprotected landscape. She shuddered at the thought. She, unlike most Pernese worried what would happen when the Red Star returned. Most just put it out of their minds, content in the here and Thread-free now. That worry was one of the reasons she had stayed with the eggs. She wouldn't miss her chance.
Aila, curled against the curve of Allystra's neck and shoulder and mostly buried in the golden sand, suddenly lifted her head and yawned. She stretched a wing, sand sliding off and into Allystra's face. The girl coughed and spluttered, shoving herself up and into a sitting position. The green squawked in annoyance and reburied herself in the sand. Kiraia chirruped, seeming to laugh at the antics of her human and fair-minion.
"What's so funny?" Allystra muttered to the gold firelizard. "The only one who's behaving himself so far is Iduen." She paused to look for the brown. "Nevermind," she muttered. Her only boy had hopped into the air and was gliding to greet the newcomer.

His hair lay flat against his face due to the rain and he had a rather unhappy look on his face. Sennaldor wasn’t used to the humidity and rain. He had experienced rain before, but not this warm stuff that seemed to enhance the heat. No, his hold had been dreadfully cold, and this Southern air was making him irritable. Gliding a short ways behind the candidate came a rather irritable looking firelizard. The little bronze wasn’t accustomed to the rain either, and it was slightly annoying. Still, Ark seemed to be brightening slightly, as if thinking he might be able to adapt to this strange new weather.
Sennaldor was, more or less, coming out here to think. He was still unsure about what he was going to be doing here and was already nervous about the nearby eggs. Dragons were a mysterious thing to him…he was accustomed to Ark, and couldn’t imagine not having the small, but huge firelizards would be different. Suddenly his thoughts were interrupted by a low rumble from Ark. The bronze flitt flapped his wings and shot in front of Sennaldor. “What is it Ark?” Senn asked more out of habit then anything. The flit merely snorted and continued on his way, obviously having spotted something.
Only moments later a small brown firelizard came into view. Immediately Ark zommed in at the thing, stopping just in front of the brown. While hovering the bronze chirruped loudly, as if questioning the brown. Sennaldor looked beyond the flit, trying to spot the person it might be with.

Iduen nearly fell out of the air when he saw the bronze, so he landed and chirped back rather meekly. Why was it him who went to see this person? Oh, right. He might get his ridges scratched.
Dragging herself out of the sand, Allystra stood and shook the loose grains from her clothing. It would have been easier were it dry, but at least it wasn't cold. She flicked a small clump from her cheek and turned to meet the kid who was coming. She saw the bronze and smiled slightly. It was nice to see metallics about. Greens and blues, and, to some extent, browns, were so much more common - not that common was bad! You just didn't see metallics as often as you did the chromatics, even here in the South.
"Hi," she said with a smile. "Did you just get here recently? I don't seem to recall seeing you around before." And I see most of the people here regularly, she added to herself. Well, that was what being a resident Harper got you, but she didn't mind. "I'm Allystra. The brown is Iduen, and these two are Aila and Kiraia." She pointed to the two hovering female firelizards as she named them. "What about you and your lovely bronze?" Kiraia snorted at her and glided closer to Ark.
